OFF WHITE: A new trend in facade painting

We are increasingly aware of how the right façade colour contributes to the orderly and harmonious image of the settlements. The days of saturated, screaming facade colors are behind us, the trend of gray-white facades is also slowly receding. What’s on the horizon? Warm, dirty white tones complemented by natural materials.

In recent years, there has been a real resurgence in Slovenian residential architecture. Strict lines, intricate forms, flat roofs, extravagant facade cladding and colors, which have drastically changed the image of our countryside in recent decades, are quickly giving way to a more pleasant, new country style. Through their houses, the architects reinterpret the traditional peculiarities of local architecture, re-allocating the place on the facade to plaster, wood and natural materials.

When choosing a facade color, it is necessary to take into account spatial acts, which usually limit the colors to neutral and sandy tones, in addition to the color of the building furniture, roof, gutters, as well as the prevailing shades of the built environment. Thus, we often find ourselves faced with a seemingly impossible choice when, among hundreds of seemingly identical shades of sand and grey, we have to identify the one that will at the same time satisfy the urban conditions and harmonize with the other elements of our architecture.
