Sustainable development plays an important role at JUB, as the Company’s management decades ago adopted the principles of environmentally and consumer-friendly company development. We implement the sustainable development strategy through responsibility towards people, protection of the environment and efficient operations.
Every drop can make a difference. JUB since 1875
JUB has always been strongly associated with water. The Mlinščica stream, which flows through the Company’s yard, is the reason why the Company was founded in this location. From the very beginning, the stream provided at that time valuable mechanical energy for millstones, and later, with the help of turbines, electricity. The droplet is also an integral part of the Company’s logo. Since water is such an important part of JUB and most of our products are water-based, the main direction of sustainable operations is precisely water, which is also supported by our sustainable development statement: Every drop can make a difference. Care for employees
Employees are our most important source of success, which is why we create a working climate that enables personal development, and we take care of continuous training and education of all employees. We build mutual relations on the principle of respect for colleagues and cooperation. We encourage the development of a culture of diversity and inclusion.
Charity projects
With a developed charity concept and through a partnership project integration we have traditionally supported with our products many public institutions such as schools, kindergartens, and hospitals. In certain projects, in addition to donation of material we also come to the rescue ourselves and help with the renovation of spaces used by the weakest, mostly children. We pay special attention to different humanitarian associations, which with their contribution improve the quality of life in society.
Local community
We are proud of the activities that we carry out together with individual communities. With donations and sponsorships, we support local firefighting associations, clubs, societies, and the local presbytery. We have been a long-term sponsor of the local cross-country skiing club and hockey club; we thus take care of sportsmanship with young people in the local community. With our products, we help the elementary school and kindergarten, and we also host them every year at various workshops and guided tours. Residents of the municipality have special discounts throughout the year when purchasing our products, from time to time we organize open day for the local population, we maintain good relations with the municipality and the mayor at regular annual meetings.
Environment
Energy and carbon footprint
When planning new technological processes and building renovations, we pay a lot of attention to the rational use of energy and the possibility of increasing self-sufficiency in electricity. With rational use of energy in the field of technology, heating, and lighting, we reduce costs and carbon footprint. In the supply of raw materials, we cooperate with verified local suppliers and demonstrate our strategic orientation towards reducing the carbon footprint in transportation.
Resources and waste
The result of all our efforts is the development and production of user-friendly and environmentally friendly products with the least possible use of resources, both in terms of energy and material, and without the content of environmentally unfriendly substances. This part includes the production of products intended for reducing energy consumption on users’ side and the use of raw materials produced according to the sustainable development principles.
Sustainable products
Sustainable products are those that, to the greatest extent possible, contribute to the provision of social and economic benefits and preservation of public health and the environment throughout the life cycle.
It is important that throughout the product’s life cycle all stakeholders in all operational processes pursue the goal of reducing the products’ carbon footprint, options for their recycling and the development of system solutions for using water-based products.
