Technique instructions
Surface Preparation:
- The surface should be slightly rough, dry, and clean, free from loosely bonded particles, dust, water-soluble salts, greasy coatings, and other impurities.
Application Technique:
- Prepare the mixture by mixing a bag of DECOR Decoral with 4.7 to 5.3 litres of water. After 10 minutes, stir the mixture again and add more water if necessary.
- Using a trowel, apply the mixture to the surface (covering an area of 6 m²) in a thickness equal to the largest grain size in the mixture.
- While the mixture is still fresh, use a decorative brush to create the appearance of small holes, ensuring that no more than 1/3 of the entire surface is affected. This should be done in horizontal wavy strokes. Then, gently roll the entire surface with a DECOR Travertin roller.
- Once the material has partially “tightened,” smooth it with a stainless steel trowel, making sure not to fill in the holes too much.
- When the surface is dry to the touch but still soft, use a “scoring” technique to create a stone block pattern in the DECOR Decoral surface. Use a straight edge and scoring tool to make vertical and horizontal lines.
- Carefully and gently smooth the surface with a stainless steel trowel. Deepen and refine the pattern’s scores.
- Apply DECOR Antique with a wide brush in the desired shade. For the first coat, dilute it with water up to 10%; for the second coat, dilute it up to 5%.
